Billboard released its year-end round-up of the top-selling country artists by album sales for 2021, and many of the genre's A-listers made the Top 10. Fans won't be surprised to see Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan on the list: They all put out big-ticket albums this year. Shelton and Aldean released Body Language and Macon, respectively, while Bryan issued the deluxe version of his Born Here Live Here Die Here album in April, and likely saw a booster in sales due to his status as a judge on American Idol as well as a host for this year's CMA Awards. Chris Stapleton's Starting Over project helped earn him the No. 4 spot on the list, and multiple songs by Stapleton also landed on Billboard's Top 10 in digital sales and streaming year-end list, too. Kane Brown and Florida Georgia Line were also favorites, with FGL releasing Life Rolls On early in 2021 and collaborating with rapper Nelly on his country project, too. Brown kept his cross-genre profile up with multiple collaborations, too, as well as his single "One Mississippi," plus he netted the most-played song on country radio of 2021 thanks to his Chris Young duet, "Famous Friends." It's no surprise that Luke Combs scored high sales numbers, and that Taylor Swift experienced a major resurgence in country album sales thanks to the release of her Taylor's Version projects, including Red. The other three country albums to close the year at the top of the year-end Billboard 200 Albums ranking were Garth Brooks’ Ropin’ The Wind in 1992, Carrie Underwood’s Some Hearts in 2006, and Taylor Swift’s Fearless in 2009. The recently RIAA certified Double Platinum album was produced by Joey Moi, features his latest single “Sand In My Boots,” as well as fan-favorite hits like “Wasted On You,” “7 Summers,” “More Than My Hometown,” “Cover Me Up,” “865,” “Somebody’s Problem” and more. Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Gabby Barrett, Luke Bryan, Kane Brown, Dan + Shay, Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line and Carrie Underwood follow Wallen in the Top Country Artists of 2021 ranking. The crowning titles are calculated by year-end music metrics from the Billboard weekly charts from Nov. 21, 2020 through Nov. 13, 2021. The year-end rankings are calculated using MRC Data and “reflect equivalent album units, airplay, sales or streaming during the weeks that the titles appeared on a respective chart during the tracking year.” Heading into 2022, Wallen is poised to continue his streak of success as he’s set to embark on his 46+ date, The Dangerous Tour, in support of his 30-track double album. Additionally, Wallen is confirmed to headline several premier country music festivals, including Country Thunder, Tortuga Music Festival, TidalWave Music Festival, and more. GARTH BROOKSGarth Brooks' certified sales of 156.1 million put him right up there with the biggest-selling artists of any genre, ahead of rock titans like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones. As of this year, Brooks is the only artist in history to have released seven albums that achieved diamond status in the United States (surpassing the Beatles' record of six).
