Why does blackbeard have two fruits

Few of the characters in One Piece are as vile as Marshall D. Teach, commonly known as Blackbeard. First a member of Whitebeard’s crew, Teach betrayed his surrogate father and siblings when he killed Thatch to steal the mighty Yami Yami no Mi. As if that wasn’t enough, Blackbeard captured Portgas D. Ace and turned him over to the world government to gain warlord status. All in order to provoke a war that would allow him to acquire the crew he wanted, kill Whitebeard and steal his Devil Fruit powers.

Oddly enough, Blackbeard is the first human in One Piece history to be able to wield two Devil Fruit powers at once, which is said to be an impossible feat. CP-9 Agent Jabra himself reveals that it is, proving that this limitation was not an elaborate World Government conspiracy. Additionally, the Marines and Pirates were shocked to see Teach wield two different powers. But how could he have done this? Here is a dive into the most popular theories.

Cerberus Theory – Blackbeard Had Eat Devil Fruit Before

The Cerberus theory, easily one of the most popular within the One Piece community, postulates that Blackbeard had already eaten a devil fruit before eating the Yami Yami no Mi. Specifically, a mythical zoan fruit probably called Inu. Inu no Mi, the Cerberus model. Theorists believe that due to the nature of the actual Mythical Cerberus, which has three heads with independent thinking, it allows Teach to use more than one Devil Fruit. The rationale for this theory comes mainly from the way Blackbeard and his actions tend to revolve around the number three.

First of all, Blackbeard’s Jolly Roger is supposed to represent the captain of a ship. Its specific flag includes the usual skull, but also, curiously, three skulls quite close to each other, like that of a Cerberus. Then there’s his weapon of choice, a three-bladed claw that he’s been using since joining the Whitebeard Pirates. This claw is in fact at the origin of the famous scars of Shanks on the left eye, or could be the claw of the hypothetical zoan form of Blackbeard. The fact that the Cerberus myth exists directly in the world of One Piece gives this theory even more credibility.

Chimera Theory – There are multiple entities inside Blackbeard

Why does blackbeard have two fruits

Like the Cerberus theory, the Chimera theory is based on the idea that Blackbeard has several entities. While the former implies that they originate from the ingestion of devil fruit, the chimera theory asserts that this is how Blackbeard was born. Since Marco the Phoenix even said during Marineford that Blackbeard’s body is unique, there is some One Piece in-canon evidence to support this theory.

Although this is quite a rare occurrence, there are many cases of fetuses absorbing each other in the womb before they are born. This is commonly referred to as a “Vanishing Twin”. This process essentially creates a person with multiple DNA and sets of genes, which can lead to abnormalities in the body after birth. It can even potentially give that same fetus multiple organ sets.

It’s entirely possible that Blackbeard’s body contains multiple “beings”, which is why having multiple Devil Fruits doesn’t kill him. If a person can only have one Devil Fruit and Blackbeard is in fact made up of several people, it is quite possible that their body can use as many Devil Fruit as there are people in it. .

Yami Yami No Myth – Disable the powers of a demon fruit user

Why does blackbeard have two fruits

This One Piece theory is unique in that it departs almost entirely from the idea that Blackbeard’s body is responsible for his ability to use the multiple powers of Devil Fruit. This ability comes from the Yami Yami no Mi instead, which is why he was willing to kill Thatch to get it. The Yami Yami no Myth also confirms the idea that Blackbeard’s Devil Fruit is as special as it claims.

Since his fight against Ace, Blackbeard has stated that the Yami Yami no Mi is unique among the Devil Fruits, especially the Logias. While he doesn’t offer him the same elemental intangibility that Logias are famous for – and in fact makes him much more susceptible to damage than he would be without him – Blackbeard has clearly stated that his other abilities more than make up for it. Thus, his mastery of darkness has given him some control over gravity, which allows him to bring objects and people closer to him against their will. He is even able to suck objects into his darkness and then expel them with great force.

His greatest power, however, is his unique ability to extinguish the powers of a Devil Fruit user, which Blackbeard first showed against Ace. Many fans believe that it was this power, or an extension of it, that allowed Teach to seize the abilities of the Devil Fruit from Blackbeard. If so, this could very easily explain why he was so eager to have this particular devil fruit, since he even admitted to waiting for decades aboard Whitebeard’s ship in hopes of getting it. to find.

Vegapunk Effect – Blackbeard’s body has been improved

Why does blackbeard have two fruits

Perhaps the wackiest theory is the Vegapunk Effect, which comes up with the idea that Vegapunk upgraded Teach’s body so that he could use multiple Devil Fruits. This theory is considered one of the least likely, as it would require a lot of different details to prove its truth. In particular, the infamous Dr Vegapunk, who has worked for the world government for years, would have to have met Blackbeard sometime before the events of One Piece.

Given how little is known about Dr. Vegapunk, it’s hard to deny or accept the credibility of this theory. After the Straw Hats split on Sabaody, Franky lands on Karakuri Island, a winter island on the Grand Line where Vegapunk grew up. It has been confirmed that Blackbeard was also born on an island in the Grand Line, although the exact location has not yet been revealed. If any experiments did take place, they probably took place on Karakuri Island, but without knowing the origin of Blackbeard, it is impossible to be sure. While it is possible that these experiments took place after Teach joined the Blackbeard Pirates, it is highly unlikely given that the World Government would have been aware of the threat he posed.

There are many possible explanations as to how Blackbeard can wield two Devil Fruits in One Piece. In fact, if he can wield two, there’s no reason to believe he can’t wield three, especially given the character’s obsession – and the show as a whole – with the number three. Blackbeard even uses three pistols and has three missing teeth. Whether the real reason is good or bad, one thing is certain: One Piece likes to take its time to make it happen.

Theory on how Blackbeard is able to use two devil fruits from OnePiece

So in the latest chapter...

Chapter 868 we get confirmation through two Eye Witnesses (as readers we got somewhat of a confirmation in Chapter 867) that cannibalising grants the powers of the Devil Fruit the person that gets eaten has...

So, this means that when someone eats a Devil Fruit, its power connects to the heart...

So the theory is...

Blackbeard has two hearts...

Let's forget that this may or may not be the case...

He could be born with two hearts, or something tragic involving his family happened and he had a second haert transplanted or something... That's no anyone's guess...

We can wait until we find more about him in his flashbacks :P

If Blackbeard actually has two hearts that means that the Yami Yamo no Mi, the Darkness Fruit, is stored in his right heart... His normal heart, somehow like Sanji xD

And the Gura Gura no Mi, the Quake Fruit, is stored in his extra heart (by whatever means he has it (conjoined twins or whatever). Therefore making the two Devil Fruits possible...

That's my two cents on the Blackbeard mystery based on recent events :D :P

Edit: This also complicates things a bit... Cause then how can inanimate objects "eat" Devil Fruits? ... We will have answers when we finally get to see Vegapunk! Till then DFs will still be a mystery!
