How to make a sugarcane farm

Sugar cane farms only work when sand and water are placed together. That’s why you will find sugarcane naturally around the shore of the rivers. Now to create a farm you need to place any number of blocks depending on the size of the farm you want to create and then place the same number of sand blocks in front of that having a gap of one block as shown below. After that you need to cover the edges of that gap by placing one stone block on each side so that the water source can stay there. You can get the sand blocks naturally using a shovel wherever you see any sand.

Now you need to place a water source besides the sand block as shown.

Now put some sugar canes on the top of sand blocks by right-clicking and then they are ready to grow.

After that you need to cover the water source by placing some additional stone block above it.

Now dig some space in the front of the sand blocks where you need to put a chest and some hoppers.

Place one chest and then connect the hopper with it after that place other hoppers and you need to make sure that those are connected to the middle hopper as well. A chest will be used to store the items, but it can’t do that directly, you need to connect a hopper that will be used as a medium. You can craft a chest by placing eight blocks of wooden planks inside a crafting table. Whereas hoppers can be crafted by placing five pieces of iron ingot along with one piece of a chest.

Now place some pistons on the top of the stone blocks that you can craft by placing four cobblestones, three wooden planks, along with one iron ingot and Redstone.

After that place some observers on top of the piston that you can craft by placing two red stones, six cobblestones along with one nether quartz. An observer will be used to measure the length of the sugar cane and after reaching a specific length it will send a signal to a piston that will be used to cut the sugarcanes.

To make the observer work you need to place the red stone powder as well behind their back that will act as a power source as shown below.

Now the whole process of creating an automatic sugarcane farm is now complete and when the piston activates by getting a signal from the observer, then it will cut the sugar can and place it inside the hopper and then it moves inside a chest as it relates to a hopper.
